We engage in a range of other short term initiatives to extend our support and services to a larger number of children and youth in order to get them started in their journey of transformation and success. Through these initiatives we drive change at the community level and work in collaboration with various institutions to multiple impact and foster collective growth.
COLLEGE WORKSHOPS
Tarunya Foundation conducts 1-2 day workshops in local colleges for final and pre-final year students to help them identify their interests, strengths, and skills. We provide a structured approach to career planning, offering support in key technical areas like resume building, interview preparation, communication skills, and digital literacy. In the two-day format, we also emphasize self-awareness and self-esteem, empowering students to build confidence, overcome challenges, and pursue their aspirations. If you are an institution looking to provide career guidance and build the confidence of your students to approach their future, write to us at info@tarunyafoundation.org. We will be happy to assist you.
VILLAGE WORKSHOPS
Village workshops is our effort to reach the students (especially girls) from the remotest villages of Tirunelveli and Tenkasi. Through our surveys and experiences, we learnt that some girls either drop out of college due to family circumstances or are idle after graduation due to lack of awareness or opportunities. These workshops enable us to connect with such girls and support them to build their confidence and skills with which they can start taking baby steps towards a better future and financial independence. These are 1-2 days workshops organized at a community space inside the village.
CAREER READINESS WORKSHOPS
Career Readiness Workshops, designed and facilitated by Tarunya Foundation entails a series of sessions that prepares college students to take their first leap towards building a successful career. The workshop not only covers technical aspects of career like opportunity awareness, communication skills, resume and interview preparation but also equally focuses on building a strong sense of self-reliance and self-regulation in the students that will enable them to independently draw out an action plan and work towards it. These workshops are offered both in online and offline formats during weekends.
COMMUNITY LIBRARIES
At Tarunya Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of reading to inspire and empower rural children. Through our community library project, we set up and run libraries in villages to provide access to a diverse collection of books, fostering a love for reading and learning. Our libraries serve as safe, inclusive spaces where children can explore new ideas, improve their literacy skills, and broaden their horizons. By nurturing the habit of reading, we aim to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and lifelong learning in the next generation of rural youth. Currently, we have two community libraries – one in Sivalingapuram Village and other at Tarunya’s office premise in Alangulam. Both the libraries are being actively used by the children from the surrounding localities. We are also proud to share that both these libraries are run by children and youth who are alumni of Tarunya.
